Abstract
The purpose of comparing science to religion concerns learning how science works, so that future scientists will continue to base their decisions on experimental evidence. If science fiction or unproven principles begin to be taught as theory or law, then science becomes religion and this is very dangerous to science. The goal is to prevent this from ever happening.
Fact is truth and doesn’t consist of opinion. Fact is something you can actually look up. Fact has been tested and proven true. Fiction can’t always be proven. Faith is sometimes associated with fiction.
Faith is a belief. A Fiction belief can’t be proven.Scientific method is used to test problems and determine conclusions. It also helps find the best plan to solve the problem. It helps prove existence of new species. The goal of science is to prevent waste, and determine the best way to use the resources on earth. Currently, society is built on non renewable resources. These resources take over 100 years to make. Science examines a problem and will change a theory or law to address it.
Religion is anything that someone believes and lives their life by. Religion can also be proven wrong. Religion is stories recorded in history and past down. People of a religion worship the leader of the religion. Religion is a way of life and does not change because the principles are associated with life and death events. Some religions worship animals. Religion promotes accountability so people don’t behave like wild animals. In Hinduism, the followers obey certain rules with the belief they will be reincarnated in a second life. Typically good behavior leads to a better reincarnation outcome. In Judaism, the followers obey certain commandments with the hope of being seen as good and rewarded with a place in heaven. In an infinite universe accountability is consistent and in a finite universe, accountability is absent.
Science and religion are opposites. Science works to solve problems that are identifiable. Religion focuses on morality. Religion can be presented through art. Science promotes morals by building jails, since science is used in crime scene investigations. Religion promotes good and bad behavior by saying that if you are good you will go to heaven and if you are bad you will go to hell or other religions will promote various rewards and consequences for behavior on earth.
Many religions require their followers to have blind faith with no actual proof for events the stories are based upon. Religion is something that everyone believes and science is not based on belief. Most people are taught what to believe by their family.
